Dr. Harjot Joti Bassi is a board-certified pediatric intensivist at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego and an associate clinical professor of pediatrics at UC San Diego School of Medicine.
At Rady Children’s, she is the respiratory director of the cardiothoracic intensive care unit, the CTICU liaison for the Difficult Airway Program and a member of the Aerodigestive team. She is also the CTICU liaison for supportive care medicine and a member of the Schwartz Committee.
Specializing in pediatric cardiac critical care, Dr. Bassi spends most of her clinical time caring for patients in the CTICU.
Her training includes a pediatric critical care fellowship at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and an advanced fellowship in pediatric cardiac critical care at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, Stanford University.
Dr Bassi’s areas of interest include cardiopulmonary interactions and respiratory medicine in critically ill patients. Her research has included the use of lung recruitment maneuvers in pediatric patients with cardiac disease. Additional areas of interest have included extubation readiness, work in unplanned extubations, multidisciplinary service approach in feeding single-ventricle patients on noninvasive positive pressure, and management of difficult airways in cardiac patients.
