Margaret Nguyen, M.D.

Bio

Dr. Margarent Nguyen is a physician in the Emergency Medicine Division at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego and an assistant clinical professor in the Pediatrics Department at UC San Diego.

Dr. Nguyen completed her pediatric residency at the Children’s National Medical Center-Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. with a special focus in community health. She went on to complete her fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Nguyen's research centers on health services research and pediatric health outcomes. She employs geographical information systems (GIS) and uses spatial analysis techniques to understand geographical patterns of injury and health service utilization. As the American Academy of Pediatrics San Diego Chapter’s chair on injury prevention, she is also actively involved in local efforts to prevent accidental medication poisoning in children.

Outside of the emergency room, Dr. Nguyen enjoys spending time with her family in the San Diego sunshine. Her pastimes include learning to surf, teaching her two children how to boogie board and conducting a methodical survey of the local San Diego taco shops.
