Immittance audiometry is made up of several subparts, but the most commonly performed test is called tympanometry. For this test, a small probe is placed in the child’s ear canal and a slight pressure is applied. This test allows for a subjective measurement of the eardrum, the three bones in the middle ear and the air-filled cavity of the middle ear space.
