Dr. Nidhi Goyal is a pediatric gastroenterologist at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego and an associate clinical professor at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She is the director for the Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship.
She earned her medical degree at UC San Diego School of Medicine and a Master of Public Health at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at John Hopkins. She completed her internship and residency in general pediatrics as well as a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition at UC San Diego. She is board certified in pediatrics as well as pediatric gastroenterology.
Her main research interest is nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and obesity in children. During her fellowship, she was awarded the Pediatric Scientist Development Program grant funded by the National Institutes of Health, and she developed a stem cell model for the study of NAFLD at the Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine. Currently, she is involved in translational research with clinical trials in pediatric NAFLD as well as investigating the genetic predispositions for NAFLD.
Dr. Goyal is also passionate about teaching medical students, residents, and fellows and serves as the chair of the Education Committee for the Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition division.
