Dr. Mark Speziale is a neonatologist at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego and a professor of pediatrics at UC San Diego School of Medicine.
He is board certified and has worked at Rady Children's for 14 years.
Dr. Speziale received his medical and graduate degrees from the State University of New York at Brooklyn in a combined M.D./Ph.D. program in 1991. After completing his pediatric residency at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, he completed his neonatal fellowship at the University of California, San Diego.
For nearly 12 years, Dr. Speziale has served as medical director of the Neonatal Transport Program, which transports more than 700 critically ill newborns annually. He assumed the role of medical director for the neonatal intensive care unit at Rady Children's in 2012. Dr. Speziale has served as section chief in neonatology and currently serves as chair of Rady Children's Infection Control Committee.
Rady Children's NICU is part of a regional center, and Dr. Speziale is committed to providing educational opportunities for community hospitals in San Diego and Imperial counties. As such, he is an NRP regional trainer, STABLE instructor and has given numerous lectures to critical care and advanced life support nurses. He has also traveled to Latvia and Lithuania to assist in establishing a national program in neonatal resuscitation.
