Body Fluid (Peritoneal fluid/ascites, Pericardial fluid/thoracentesis): 0.3-0.5 mL in sterile container. Respiratory (Bronchial washing, bronchoalveolar lavage, nasopharyngeal aspirate or washing, sputum, or tracheal aspirate): 0.3-1 mL in sterile container. Spinal fluid: 0.3-0.5 mL in sterile vial. Stool: 0.5-1 g in sterile container. Swab (Nasal, throat, respiratory, or ocular): in BBL CultureSwab. Tissue: 0.5-2 mL in sterile container of saline or multi-microbe medium (M5). Urine: 0.3-1 mL in a sterile container.
