Dr. Beth Feller Printz is the medical director of non-invasive cardiac imaging and a board-certified pediatric cardiologist at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. She is also a professor of clinical pediatrics and an adjunct professor of radiology at UC San Diego.
Dr. Printz received her Bachelor of Arts in engineering sciences from Harvard University, and then received her medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and her doctoral degree from City University of New York. For her doctoral dissertation, she collaborated with Dr. Charles Peskin at NYU's Courant Institute of Mathematic Sciences on computer modeling of blood flow through the heart. She completed her pediatrics residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and her pediatric cardiology fellowship at Columbia University. After completing her fellowship, she remained at Columbia as a faculty member in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology, where she helped to develop their pediatric cardiac MRI program. She was recruited to San Diego in 2009 to initiate a pediatric cardiac and congenital MRI program at Rady Children's.
Dr. Printz specializes in using echocardiography and cardiac MRI to better understand congenital heart disease in children and adults. She is particularly interested in non-invasive imaging of children with Kawasaki disease and connective tissue disorders, and also collaborates with engineers investigating computational modeling of complex congenital heart disease.
Dr. Printz has authored over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters. She is actively involved in teaching medical students, residents and cardiology fellows, and has been on several national committees regarding the education of future pediatric cardiologists.
Dr Printz also enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, hiking, running and playing flute.
