Dr. Johanna Chang is the Clinical Chief of Rheumatology at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego and Clinical Professor at UC San Diego.
After graduating from medical school at Stanford University, Dr. Chang completed her residency in pediatrics at UC San Diego. She returned to Stanford for her fellowship in pediatric rheumatology and joined UC San Diego and Rady Children's in 2011.
Dr. Chang is interested in the pathogenesis, diagnosis and management of rheumatologic disorders. She has special interest in systemic lupus erythematosus and manages patients in a combined renal-rheumatology clinic, a collaborative clinic staffed by both a rheumatologist and a nephrologist to care for children with kidney disease due to a rheumatologic disorder. She also has training in ultrasound use in the detection and management of juvenile idiopathic arthritis. She is a Principle Investigator for the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance Registry, the largest pediatric rheumatology registry in North American, and is currently recruiting patients for ongoing clinical studies.
Dr. Chang is also a mother of three children and enjoys running, yoga, cooking and music.
