Receive and deliver directly to Micro as soon as possible. Fresh stool collected in a sterile container needs to be transferred into ETM within in 1 hour of collection. If sample received already transferred in the Cary Blair media, send to Micro for now and inform the provider of the transport change.
Campylobacter, C. difficile toxin A/B, Plesiomonas shigelloides, Salmonella, Vibrio, Yersinia enterocolitica, Enteroaggregative E. coli (EAEC), Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC), Enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC) lt/st, Shiga-like toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) stx1/stx2, Shigella/Enteroinvasive E. coli (EIEC), Cryptosporidium, Cyclospora cayetanensis, Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia lamblia (aka G. intestinales & G. duodenalis), Adenovirus F 10/41, Astrovirus, Norovirus GI/GII, Rotavirus A, and Sapovirus (Genogroups I, II, IV, and V).
Samples positive for STEC will auto reflex for differentiation.
