Collection Instructions

Call lab for Blood Spot Collection Card located in the Mayo file. Whatman Protein Saver 903 paper is acceptable. It is also acceptable to collect whole blood in an ACD (yellow-top), EDTA (lavender-top) or heparin (green-top) tube and transferred onto filter paper. Let blood dry completely on the filter paper at room temp in a horizontal position for a minimum of 3 hours. Do not expose specimen to heat or direct sunlight. Do not stack wet specimens. Keep specimen dry.

Order in Mayolink. Send with Mayo courier Monday-Friday. Let blood dry completely on the filter paper at room temp in a horizontal position for a minimum of 3 hours. Do not expose specimen to heat or direct sunlight. Do not stack wet specimens. Keep specimen dry.


Comments

Due to reference range differences, this test is the appropriate test for patients older than 6 weeks of age.
