Collection Instructions

Call lab for collection tubes. Tubes are located in send out cupboard or pick-up tubes from Sharp Lab. Specimen must be collected 2-30 hours after aspirin ingestion. Fill whole blood to the black arrows on tube (2 mL) following a discard tube of at least 2 mL of whole blood. Always draw the tubes for VerifyNow Test first. DO NOT DRAW A SPECIMENS FOR VERIFYNOW ASSAY AFTER A TUBE THAT CONTAINS EDTA.

DO NOT CENTRIFUGE. Complete a UCSD Special Coag requisiton and send with whole blood specimens to UCSD immediately room temp.
