This two-day course employs the Pediatric Advanced Life Support curriculum designed by the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics. The course includes skills stations and interactive case-based sessions that teach the participant to integrate knowledge and skills into a clinically useful discipline. The goals are to provide information to recognize the infant or child at risk for respiratory and /or cardiac arrest; strategies to prevent respiratory and/or cardiac arrest in neonates, infants and children; cognitive and psychomotor skills to resuscitate and stabilize the infant; and children in respiratory failure, shock or cardiopulmonary arrest.
