Lab Overview
Pathologists check for disease, infection and abnormalities by analyzing cells, tissues and body fluids. Here at Rady Children’s, we have the only group of pathologists in San Diego County solely dedicated to the practice of pediatric pathology.
Using state-of-the-art lab equipment, our pathologists provide interpretations in pediatric anatomic and clinical pathology, ciliary motility analysis and electron microscopy. We also offer consultations in all aspects of pediatric anatomic and clinical pathology, with particular expertise in pediatric neoplasia, gastrointestinal and hepatic pathology, muscle biopsies and pediatric renal biopsies.
Our Division members are faculty at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine and train UC San Diego medical students, residents and fellows, as well as residents from the Naval Medical Center, San Diego. Additionally, we are active in national and international societies and medical associations, including the Society for Pediatric Pathology, Children’s Oncology Group, United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, College of American Pathologists and the American Association of Blood Banks.
