Outpatient Retail Pharmacy Transition FAQs
When will the Rady Children’s pharmacy close and when will the new retail pharmacy open?
The Rady Children’s pharmacy changed ownership on Oct. 25, 2024. The new owners plan to remain open during the transition, and there will not be a disruption in service.
What are the hours for the new retail pharmacy?
To start, they will remain the same (Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; closed on Sundays). Any change in hours will be communicated in advance.
Will the new retail pharmacy provide discharge medications?
Yes. The new owners plan to continue services in the same manner as have been provided by Rady Children’s.
Will the new retail pharmacy compound medications?
Yes, the new pharmacy will compound non-sterile medications (i.e., orals, topicals, etc.) including hazardous medications. If they cannot compound something on-site, they will work with one of their other pharmacies to compound it and dispense to the patient.
Are there other pharmacies which compound medications for pediatric patients?

Will the new retail pharmacy provide prescriptions via mail?
Yes, they will continue to provide prescriptions via mail.
Will the new retail pharmacy be able to assist with medication questions?
Yes. The new pharmacy staff are highly qualified.
Will the new pharmacy take our insurance?
Yes, there should be no interruption of service.
